I Could Use A Little Adulation
mixed media painting in acrylics on masonite, beads, mirrors
42 x 48 inches
1994

I did this piece when my 2 boys were busy little guys at about 4 and 6 and of course, I was on the busy overworked mommy hamster wheel. Instead of being the slave, I wanted some slaves! And make them handsome too while you're at it, why not? Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

I love the unlimited possiblities of mixed media painting. This piece features a "torn paper edge" with ripped masonite, mirrors and beads which create 3d elements.

I started Pavelka Design sewing patterns just after this painting and focused on innovative clothing patterns for the next six years.
